He was predeceased by: his parents, William M., Jr. and Bessie Louise Hickel (Overly); his former wife Margaret Ann Pickens; his wife June Piggott Anderson; and his siblings, Bob Hickel and June Schneider.
He is survived by: his children, Debbie Hickel Robinett (Paul) of Bainbridge, Tammy Kight (Greg) and William A. Hickel (Rhonda Knight); his grandchildren, Danielle Penrod (Jared), Daniel Robinett, Bill Richardson (Kathy), Carey Richardson, April Richardson (David Duncan), Bryan Bost and Dwight Boyd Hickel (Sharon); his great grandchildren, Trevor, McKenzie Penrod, Emily, Abby Richardson, Samantha Hamilton, Christopher Richardson, Jacob Ward, Anna Marie Stover, Dylan Bost, Lena Hickel, Olivia and Tyler Richardson; his great great grandchildren, Graysnn Davies and Zeke Ward; and his sisters, Jean Patrick (Wayne) of Kingston and Jane Stahura of Mission Viejo, CA.
