He was predeceased by: his parents, David F. Herrnstein and Mary I. Dimity Herrnstein; and his brothers, Frederick Herrnstein, James Herrnstein and Joseph Herrnstein.
He is survived by: his daughters, Mary McCombs (Mark) of Upper Arlington and Sarah Pummel (Chris) of Chillicothe; his grandchildren, Andrew, James McCombs, Brooke and Holly Pummel; his great grandchild Isabella Jane DeMint; his nephews, Tom Herrnstein and Andrew Herrnstein; his cousins, Carolyn Riky, Martha Laughon, Philip Herrnstein and Henry Herrnstein; and his friends, Kezia Vanmeter Sproat and Stephen Butt.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the National Church Residence Hospice at 681 E. 3rd St., Waverly, Ohio 45690.
