He was predeceased by: his parents, Latta C. Schaffer and Marie Miller Schaffer; and his sisters, Rose Marie Hoeg and Joyce Schaffer. He is survived by: his wife Rose C. "Dee" Tolliver; his brother Gary Schaffer (Jennifer) of Frankfort; his pets, Bella Rose and Striesand; his nieces, Teresa Baker, Middy McClure, Brittany Lougheed, Tanya Williams and Tammy Daniels; his nephew Toby Williams; and his close friend Harry Rider of Waverly.
