He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Carey and Martha Jester Carey; his former wife Ruth Showalter; and his brothers, Chuck Carey, Nick Kelly and Dorsey Montgomery.
He is survived by: his children, Matheresa Showalter of Clarksburg, George Carey, Jr. (Darlene) of Athens, James Carey of Athens and Anthony Carey (Amanda) of Bloomingburg; his sisters, Leoma Johnson (Dwight) of Chillicothe and Grace Scott (Peter) of Chillicothe; and his niece Nicole Warner of Chillicothe. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ware Funeral Home to help the family with his funeral expenses.
