He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Nelson and Mary Elizabeth Nelson; and his siblings, Gene, Glenn, Howard, Gwendine, Beatrice and Brenda.

He is survived by: his brother Bill Nelson of Tennessee. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV.
