He was predeceased by: his parents, John Gierlach and Mary Gierlach; his wife Donna Gierlach (Stankiewicz); and his siblings, Peter, John, Stanley and Anna.
He is survived by: his children, Robert Gierlach, James Gierlach (Dorothy), Richard Gierlach (Marci), Irene Anderson (Russell), Lisa Gierlach (Joe Lobdell) and Annette Slawinski (Tom). He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
