He was predeceased by: his parents, John Sr. Shay and Mildred M. Shay (Janes); and his sisters, Mitzi Evans and Marsha Liguori. He is survived by: his wife Florence "Tic" Shay (Ryser); his children, Roxan Jewell (Donald) of Orangeville and John Daniel Shay of Burghill; his brother Stephen M. Shay of Hubbard; his grandchildren, Crysta Bonekovic, William Shay, Dawnelle Jewell and Stone Jewell; and his great grandchildren, Brody Shay, Isaac O'Donnell, Christopher Adams-Olenik and Preston Geracitano. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
