He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Thornton and Alma Thornton (Worls); his daughter Michelle Thornton; and his siblings, Molly Moore and Russell Thornton.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Thornton (Plant); his children, Charles Thornton (Carol) of Burghill, Troy Thornton of St. Clairsville, Roger Mellon, Jr. (Marlene) of Burghill, Frank Mellon of Hartford, Justin Thornton of Burghill, Marcelle Thornton of Bayonet Point, Fla., Melora Griffith of Michigan, Michelle Junk (Shawn) of Greenville and Christyn Thornton (Jeff) of Cortland; and his sister Betty Mae Smith. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren.
