He is survived by: his wife Debbie Steele Messersmith; his children, Michelle Clapper (Mark) of Elizabethtown and Dave Messersmith of Youngstown; and his siblings, Linda Ross (Joe) of Cortland, Nancy Phillips (Gary) of Jefferson, Shirley Evans (Stan) of Hartford, Barb Black (Rick) of Brookfield and Dan Messersmith (Becky) of Hartford. He is also survived by niece, "Kenny"; and several nieces and nephews.
