He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Gardner and Bernice Gardner (Luft); his son Michael Allen Gardner; and his brothers, Carl and Dale Gardner.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret O. Gardner (Barth); his daughter Barbara Bartfield (Mike) of West Chester, OH; his grandchildren, Melisa Miller, David Bartfield (Jennifer) and Heather Troyer (Bryan); and his great grandchildren, Sierra, Jasmine, Lillian, Regan, Olivia, Matthew and Ethan. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the Bartfield family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association 5455 North High St. Columbus, Ohio 43214.
