He was predeceased by: his parents, Pauline Renetta (Schunemann) and John "Jack" George Schaefer; his former wife Joyce Schaefer; and his sister Jo Anne Schaefer. He is survived by: his former wife Joyce A. Freeman; his wife Adelia Burdett (Hill); his sons, Paul L. Schaefer (Kelly) of Toledo and Mark A. Schaefer of Rockville, Maryland; his stepchildren, Rebecca Wright (Paul) of New Smyrna Beach, Holly Keesecker (Mark) of Melbourne, Florida and Troy Ogram (Audrey) of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; his grandchildren, Hope and James Schaefer; his stepgrandchildren, Cole, Allie, Kiera, Kelsey, Cody, Lanie, Joel and Carley; his siblings-in-law, Paul Freeman of Andover, Dexter Freeman of Maple Heights and Dawn Freeman of Sacramento; and his niece Anne M. Siembor of Andover, Ohio.. He is also survived by his children and grandchildren.
