He is survived by: his wife Melba Ann Purvis-Thornton; his brothers, Douglas Thornton (Irene) and Bryant Thornton Jr. (Alice); his daughters, Lisa Marie Dillinger (Ed), Elizabeth Ann Thornton, Cynthia Rose Thornton, Melissa Catherine Thornton and Theresa Elnora Pruitt (James); his stepchildren, Nathan Purvis and Julie Stein (Kevin); and his grandchildren, James R. Thornton (Jenny), Bryan James, Loryn Peace (Josh), William Tighe, Kyle Franckhauser (Bethany), John James and Luke Franckhauser. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
