He was predeceased by: his parent Oscar Courtney; his sister Nellie Bernice DeLong (Lee) of Lancaster; and his brother-in-law Gerald DeLong. He is survived by: his parent Nellie Courtney (Cupp); and his wife Geneva Courtney (DeLong).
