He was predeceased by: his parents, Anthony Valent and Anna Reta Valent (Bowers); his father-in-law Harold Cole; his stepfather-in-law Emory Burnett; and his nephew Joseph Horn.

He is survived by: his wife Beatrice "Bea" Valent; his son Michael Valent of Watkins Glen; his brother William "Bill" Valent; his grandson Alexander Valent; his mother-in-law Zelda Burnett; and his siblings-in-law, Theresa Horn (Bob), Robert Cole (Kathryn) and Earl Cole (Patty). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
