He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Hafele and Bernice Hafele (Radeker); and his siblings, Betty, Bob, Gail and Chuck.

He is survived by: his son Richard; his wife Mary; his children, Anna Peaster (John) of Walton, NY, Mary Kott (Lenny) of Sanford, FL, Shawn Hafele (Kelly) of Southington, CT and Sara Desautels of Trumbull, CT; his grandchildren, Amara Travers (Matthew), Alec Peaster (Chrissy), Shayna Terpstra (Derek), Lyle Peaster, Keziah Kott, Elianna Kott, Caleb Hafele, Anthony Desautels, Vincent Desautels, Faith Bauske (Logan), Ben Gaedeke, Sam Gaedeke and Nick Gaedeke; and his great grandchildren, Logan Travers, Lyla Travers, Russell Travers and Sophia Bauske. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many lifelong friends.
