He was predeceased by: his parents, Vesta Scarano and Michael Scarano; and his grandson Harvey Richard Walker. He is survived by: his wife Kathy Layer (East Meredith); his son Pablo Welty (Richard S. Welty); his family Monica Welty (Karrie Sides); his granddaughters, Vesta Walker and Olivia Taylor of Portland, OR; his brother Mark Scarano (Elisa Previti); and his family, Dana, Vito, Giuliana and Regina Calandra (Endwell, family: Nick, Natalise, Brittany, Michaela Scarano). He is also survived by nephew and family.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the memorial scholarship fund Rick established for the Human Rights Department at the University of Dayton in honor of his late grandson.
