He was predeceased by: his parents, John T. Shields and Helen E. Shields; and his sister Maureen Walker. He is survived by: his wife Marie; his sister Kate Connery (Andrew); and his parents-in-law, Arlene Hyland, Paul Hyland (Linda), Bobbi Milazzo (David), Punkie Lighton (Dick) and Rich Hyland (Dorothy). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
