He was predeceased by: his wife Colleen. He is survived by: his parents, Marvin C. Koonz Sr and Marguerite Koonz (Tate); his grandchildren, Tanner, Taylor, Cassidy, Lucian, Kristopher and Scott; his siblings, Charlene, Janet and Gary; and also Marine. He is also survived by friend and constant companion.
