It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Glenn Leonard Birkeland (Schuylerville, New York), born in Manhattan, New York, who passed away on December 17, 2023, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Birkeland and Ingrid DeGeorge; his nephews, Gregory and Theodore Greve; and his brothers-in-law, Alf Flodsand, Wayne Peterson and Jim Hesney.
He is survived by: his children, Diane Bernhardt (Sigfried), Lisa Shohen (Matthew), Cheryl Schempp and Kristyn Birkeland (Brian Harris); his grandchildren, Elke, Angelika Bernhardt, Ashley, Emily Shohen, Alyssa and Louden Schempp; his sisters, Arlene Greve (Ted), Lillian Peterson, June Flodsand Sharon Hesney and Nancy Lovaglio (Dan); and his close friend Martha Beyersdorf.
