He was predeceased by: his parents, George Thornton and Clara Thornton; and his sister Carol Anne Brodish (Jerome). He is survived by: his wife Jade; his daughter Rebecca; his son-in-law Michael Francello; his sister Linda Gentalen (Thomas); and his brother-in-law Jerome Brodish. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family suggests donations in his memory be made to Diaz Ambulance of Saugerties.
