He was predeceased by: his wife Kathryn; and his son Peter James. He is survived by: his children, Richard (Gail), Carolyn, Suzanne (Camilo) and Barbara (John); his grandchildren, Shaun, Ross, Michael, Matthew, John, Stephanie, Amanda and Stephen; and his siblings, Eileen Byrnes and Jack Hofmann. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
