Ilse Zwyhun Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ilse Zwyhun (Pearl River, New York), who passed away on April 15, 2020, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Ella Achenbach and Paul Achenbach; her husband Josef; her siblings, Agarn, Erwin, Helmut and Ellie; and her pets, Schatzi and Tuffy.
She is survived by: her sons, Joe (Denise Sullivan) of Pearl River and Nestor (Linda) of Ridgewood; her grandchildren, Kelsey (Michael Johnson) and Peter; and her sisters, Irmgardt and Christa.
Due to the pandemic, services will be scheduled for a later date.
They then emigrated to the United States on March 30, 1957 with the help of the Tolstoy Farm Foundation. Alexandra Tolstaya, youngest daughter of the Russian writer Leo Tolstoy started this foundation to help Soviet displaced persons, dissidents, and former Soviet citizens to settle in the West.
