He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Chandler and Dorothy Chandler (Sandaggar); his former wife Patricia Anne Chandler; his brother Fred; and his sister-in-law Beverly Searles.

He is survived by: his children, William "Bill" Chandler, Fred (Karen Chandler), Cindy Chandler and John O. Jr. (Dailyn Chandler); and his grandchildren, Willie, Valerie Chandler, Fred, Amy Chandler, Tim, Hailey Chandler, Heather, Rob Brown, Fritz, Sarah Rudin, Danielle, Brian Wagner, Ashley Rudin, John-Glenn and Dobri Chandler. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren; and his great great granddaughter.
