He was predeceased by: his siblings, Joseph B. Havens, Jr., Helen Todd and Clifford Havens; and his parents, Joseph Byron and Marion Havens Sr. (Hurley).
He is survived by: his wife Teresa Havens of Ogdensburg, NY; his daughters, Mary Lou Sayles (Michael) of Sylvan Beach, NY and Lauren Havens-Zoli (Michael Zoli) of Manlius, NY; his adoptive son Richard Wilson (Joanne) of North Carolina; his grandsons, Ryan Murphy, Sean Murphy, Matthew Murphy and Enzo Roberto Zoli; his sister Sally Bush (Havens); and his cousin Joanne Coria. He is also survived by many nieces, and nephews.
