He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert and Harriette (Bailey); his wife Barbara Simmons; his son Leaman Simmons Jr.; his grandson Marty Barkley; and his siblings, Robert, Gene, Gary, Issac Simmons and Beverly Hazelton.
He is survived by: his former wife Lucille Ada Dishaw; his children, Vaughne Barkley of Heuvelton, Dawn Stevenson (James) of Potsdam and Terry Lynn Melton (Chuck) of Kissimmee, Florida.; his grandson Christian Simmons; his nieces, Casey Carter and Mandi Robertson; and his nephew Brice Robertson.
