She was predeceased by: her parents, Ethlyn Mowatt and Wilford Jackson; and her husband Denham Porter. She is survived by: her daughters, Ingrid (Ronald Cobbs), Karen (Henry Okere), Charmaine and Nadine; her grandchildren, Camryn, Christopher, Ciera and Jordyn; her brother Royston Reid (Avis); and her niece Kay Reid.

Charitable by nature, she contributed to various organizations such as her alma maters, the March of Dimes, the American Heart Association, and the American Diabetes Association, to name a few.
