He was predeceased by: his parents, Cornelius J. Avery and Margaret Hulse Avery; and his siblings, David Avery, Ruth Price (John) and Marjorie "Sis" Price (Tom).
He is survived by: his wife Elaine VanValkenburg Avery; his daughters, Connie Avery Cheng (Anthony) of Livingston Manor and Kelly Avery Leszccynski of Monticello; his granddaughters, Ellaina, Halie and Marlee; and his siblings-in-law, Debbie Avery of Monticello, Ralph VanValkenburg of Neversink and Milton VanValkenburg of Grahamsville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
