He was predeceased by: his wife Viola; and his sister Nellie Nye. He is survived by: his sons, Alan DeBack of Burke, VA and Steven DeBack (Gwen) of Webster; his grandchildren, Christopher DeBack (Megan) and Patricia Reiber (Bryan); his sister Annie Dickson (George); and his brother-in-law Charles Nye. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marion American Legion Post 1430, PO Box 42, Marion, NY 14505.
