He was predeceased by: his daughter-in-law Sallyann Renee Bender; his sister Penny Keefer; his brothers-in-law, Loren Bender and Arliss Yoder; and his parents, Austin Bender and Arletha Zehr Bender.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra Hutchins; his children, James "Jay" (Athena Bender), Mollie (Curtis Kimball), Joshua Bender of Port Leyden, Travis Bender (Madyson Gill) of Carthage and Abigail Bender; his grandson Ethan Bender; his siblings, Alvis (Bonnie Bender), Arlin (Sharon Bender), Addison (Katrina Bender), Tammy (Walter Lehman), Merle (Carol Yoder), Leona Bender and Loretta (David Steinhauer); and his sister-in-law Janet Yoder. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
