He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Ignatius 'Nick Smalter and Anna Smalter (Svejda); his former wife Dorothy Warmeling; his wife Jeannette Giaquinto (Butterfield); his sons, Stephen Smalter and Michael Smalter (Moira); his stepchildren, Lori Lort (Bruce), Terry Huff (Ray) and Scott Giaquinto; his grandchildren, Scott Smalter, Gregory Smalter, Jonathan Smalter (Kristine), Amy Shults (Thomas), Nicholas Smalter and Lauren Smalter; his sister Dorothy LaLonde (Smalter); and his daughter Susan Smalter. He was also cherished by many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
