He was predeceased by: his parents, João and Maria (Alves); and his siblings, Nelson DeMelo, Celeste Alves and Mario DeMelo.
He is survived by: his children, Gilberto (Lisa DeMelo) and Melissa (Manuel Fernandez); his grandchildren, Matthew John DeMelo, Manuel Antonio Fernandez, John Fernandez and Leila Fernandez; and his siblings, Alice Soares, Licinio DeMelo (Deanna), Elza DeMelo (Jose) and Teresa. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation or the Alzheimer's Association.
