He is survived by: his parents, Wilburn Potter and Florence Bean Potter; his spouse Cornell University; his friend Marian Wightman of Pulaski, NY; his children, James Potter (Diane) of Vail, Susan Newman (Larry) of Ithaca, Robert Potter of Boalsburg, PA, Thomas Potter (Gretchen) of Hummelstown, PA, Mary Jane Potter of Guilford, CT and Janet Newman (Richard) of Auburn; and his granddaughter Megan. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
