Maria Luisa Erichsen Obituary

In Loving Memory of Maria Luisa ErichsenIt is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria Luisa Erichsen, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many. Maria passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home on October 6, 2023, surrounded by her family at the age of 91.

Born on March 14, 1932, in Pisa, Italy, Maria was the daughter of Eraldo and Giordana Daole. Maria, her father, and brother Paolo moved to the United States in 1947, and they lived with their family in Staten Island. She grew up in a close-knit family, developing a strong sense of community and a deep love for family. This love for family would become a defining characteristic of her life.

On September 1, 1954, she married the love of her life, Christian F. Erichsen.

In her free time, Maria loved ice cream dates, roller skating on the weekends and boatng, which in turn created their traditon of family vacations to Lake George and enjoying the boat that Chris bought and named after her.

Maria was not only dedicated to their family business, Erichsen's Motel, but was also a loving mother to her four children, Judy, Jerry, Suzy and Chris. She instilled in her children a sense of wonder for the world and a commitment to making it a better place. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren brought immeasurable joy to her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them by making her well known family recipes such as pizza, pasta, and apple pie.

Maria is survived by her husband of 69 years Christian F. Erichsen, her children, Judy Erichsen-Howard, Jerry Erichsen and wife Donna-June, Suzy Erichsen, Chris Erichsen and wife Heather, and her grandchildren, RogerAdam Dodge, Everet Erichsen and wife Megan, Jerry Erichsen, Kimberly Howard, Heidi Bragg and husband Kyle, Giordana Dodge, Daniele Erichsen, Victoria Erichsen, Molly Erichsen, Mia Erichsen, her great grandchildren, Luke Erichsen, Adam Bragg, Leah Erichsen, Peyton Rosenkranse, Liam.

Bragg, Easton Howard, and Sadie Erichsen. She is also survived by her sister Silvia Daole and husband Randy and brother Michael Daole.

Maria was predeceased by her mother and father, Giodana and Eraldo Daole, and brother Paolo Daole.

The family will receive friends at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home Inc., 38 Main St., Highland NY 12528 on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, from 4PM to 8PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Thursday, October 12, 2023, 10:00AM at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, 55 Main St, Highland NY 12528.

Interment will follow at Union Cemetery of Lloyd in Highland.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Hudson Valley Hospice in Maria's memory.

Maria Luisa Erichsen's legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her, reminding us to put family first and cherish our loved ones. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered.
