He was predeceased by: his wife Ann Behrendt; his siblings, Annemarie, Dinah, Sabine, Esther and Peter; and his granddaughter Mayra Rain Chacon.

He is survived by: his children, Tom Behrendt (Lisa Kaston) and Carol Meola (Peter) of Hartsdale, NY; his grandchildren, Jeff Meola (Krista), Jessica Perillo (Mike), Max Behrendt, Adam Garcia (Dejanira) and Emily Garcia; his great grandchildren, Colin, Grace Perillo, Emma Meola, Aliyah and Amelia Garcia-Munoz; and his sister Irene Silten.
