He was predeceased by: his wife Patricia Schmidt. He is survived by: his children, Mark Schmidt, Eric Schmidt, Kathy Ann Schmidt (Carroll Ballard) and Karla Gaetano (Vince); his grandchildren, Kristy Lynn Elliot, Karl Schmidt (Simone), Eric Schmidt, David Cooper (Katy), Timothy Cooper (Kale), Amanda Cooper Steven Ballard (Matt Zimmer), Emily Ballard, Jonathan Novitsky, Patricia Oates (Alan), Vincent F. Gaetano (Goli), Samantha Gaetano (Chris), Karl Gaetano, Francesco Gaetano (Jamie) and Jakob Gaetano; and his great grandchildren, Kendal Novitsky, Ava, Lucy Oates, Bryce, Cayden Cooper, Chase Zimmer and Everly Gaetano.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital in his memory.
