He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Crawn and Vernie Crawn (Lawson); his wife Ellen Spangenburg; his son Richard "Farmer" Crawn Jr.; and his grandson Thomas Crawn.

He is survived by: his children, Patricia (Calvin Walrath), Jeffrey Allan Crawn of Gouverneur and Vernie Arquitt of Hermon. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
