She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Karl Thoma and Anna Thoma; her children, Berthold Hurns, Anneliese Hurns and Heidi Amendola; her husband John W. Hurns, Jr.; and her sons, Desmond Hurns and Baldwin Hurns. She was also cherished by 13 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was an active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, the Fairview Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Elmsford Senior Citizens, and donated to various charities.
