He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel J. McDonald, Sr. and Helene McDonald (Norton); his sister Catherine Lashly; and his son James Dean Swartz. He is survived by: his wife Patricia M. McDonald; his sister Ann Marie Long; his children, Melvin Swartz (Beth), Maria Mencarelli (Paul) and Beverly LaPointe (Tony); his daughter-in-law Teresa Swartz; his grandchildren, Joseph Belz, III, Melvin Swartz, III, Michael Swartz, Jon LaFontaine, Josh LaFontaine, Danielle LaPointe, Kellie LaPointe, Jesse James Swartz, Brittany Brooks and Haley Hindes; his great grandchildren, Wyatt Joseph Belz, Ellison Brooks and Harper Polunci; his niece Robin Long; his nephews, Jeffrey Long and Danny; and also John Keefe.
