He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert H. Valkenburgh and Judith Van Valkenburgh (Gaynor); his birth mother Judith; and his wife Patricia Van Valkenburgh. He is survived by: his son Alex Van Valkenburgh; his stepdaughters, Alysha Bredenko (Greg), Brittany Mason and Courtney Ellis (Mel); his stepgrandson Joshua Mason; his brother Michael Van Valkenburgh (Claire); his niece Maggie; and his nephew Liam.
