He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Hasenjager and Gwen Hasenjager; and his brother Bill Hasenjager. He is survived by: his significant other Scott Banks of Cincinnatus; his daughters, Heather Fairchild (Jeff) of Cortland, Kim Hasenjager of Locke and Heidi Hasenjager of McGraw; his sister Marcia Ruffing (Jack) of Alabama; his sister-in-law Marylou Hasenjager of Moravia; and his former wife Vera Hasenjager. He is also survived by three nephews; one great-nephew; two great-nieces.

John was a life member of the NYS Conservation Council, board member of the American Wildlife Conservation Foundation, and a former member of the Cincinnatus Planning Board.
