It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Carol Ravert (Chester, New York), born in Philadelphia, New York, who passed away on March 21, 2020, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur S. Hopkins and Elinore Sharer Hopkins; her husband John; and her brother Arthur Stuart Hopkins, Jr.. She is survived by: her son John Arthur of Chester; her brother C. T.; her sister-in-law MaryAnne Hopkins of Florida; her brother Jack; and her siblings-in-law, Penni Hopkins of Maryland, Jacqueline Hopkins of Maryland, Alice Ravert of New York and William Voorhees of South Carolina. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Chester Presbyterian Church Capital Fund, First Presbyterian Church, 94-96 Main Street, Chester, NY 10918.

“I had Miss Hopkins (Mrs. Ravert) for 4th grade her first year of teaching in Chester. She may have been 24 yrs old. By far, she was my favorite teacher. She blended learning with fun, and encouraged me to compete in a public speaking contest which I won. She treated all of us with kindness and patience. I visited her about 5 years ago, and she was exactly how I remembered her.”
