He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Lapoint and Bernice Lapoint (Laflesh); his siblings, Albert, Howard Jr., George, Francis, William, Phillip Lapoint, Barb Collins and Mary Rita Cayea; and his brothers-in-law, Benny King, Jack King, John Cayea, Tom Kline and Donald Collins.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Lapoint (King); his child John Lapoint; his grandchildren, Shelby Gates, Kelci Gates and Alexis Wells; his sisters, Jeannette Dubrey, Sally Kline (Bob Lacey) and Genevieve Mailloux; and his sisters-in-law, Jackie Lapoint, Judy Lapoint (Vincent), Betty Charland and Shirley King. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
