He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Edward Kalal and Inez Kalal; his children, Don Kalal of Germany, Donna Wagner (Rainer) of Germany and Evalyn Frey (John) of Oklahoma; his stepdaughters, Cheryl McLear (John) of Ogdensburg and Christine Ormsbee of Sommerville, SC; his grandchildren, Julian, Lisa Kalal, Thomas Wagner (Sybille), Sabrina Koller (Philipp), John Frey (Hannah), Joshua Hunter, Tyler Knight (Mary), Mackenzie Schreiner (Zach) and James Saber; his great grandchildren, Pin Koller, Momo, Luna, Sanny, Eli Wagner, Elijah, Alexander, Jack, Elisabeth, Harry Frey, Sawyer, Jessie Knight and Lucas Schreiner; his wife Elaine Ormsbee Kalal; his stepdaughter Debbie Ormsbee; and his grandson Jeffrey Hyde.
