He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Murphy and Helen Murphy; and his siblings, Carol Taylor and Richard Murphy. He is survived by: his wife Beverly Murphy (Walrath); his children, Tracey Gernatt (Paul) of Eden and Patrick Murphy of Avon; his siblings, Susan McCormick (David) and Paul Murphy; his grandchild Libby of Ethan Gernatt; and his mother-in-law Millie Walrath. He is also survived by several nieces and a nephew.
