He was predeceased by: his father Edwin Katherine Erickson Nelson, Sr.; his wife Bonnie Jean Costlow Nelson; his son Douglas Nelson; and his siblings, Richard, Robert Nelson, Nina Depas, Dorothy Depas and Edna Farnsworth.
He is survived by: his children, Laura Gilbert (Todd) of Lakewood, Edwin Nelson III (Julie) of Ashville, James B. Nelson of Lakewood and Tracy Phillips (Tom) of Lakewood; his grandchildren, Edwin N. Nelson, IV, Nichole Potter, Ryan Curcio, Jennifer Nelson, Bonnie Curcio, James Nelson, Jr., Ashley Nelson, Troy Carlson, Alicia Moore, Brian Nelson, Colten Swan, Michaele Marsh, Nolan Emerson, Marissa Nelson and Miranda Nelson; and his siblings, Katherine "Kitty" Parker of Dewittville and Arthur "Arkie" Nelson of Lakewood. He is also survived by thirty two great grandchildren.
