He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Kowalski and Katerine Silka Kowalski; his wife Carol Ann Bojarski; his son Michael Kowalski; and his brother George Kowalski.

He is survived by: his son Brian Kowalski; his daughter-in-law Deanine Kowalski; and his grandchildren, Mitchell (Kaylee Kowalski) and Caitlin (David Ericksen).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hagaman Volunteer Fire Department.
