He was predeceased by: his father Norman Bartel; and his brother David Bartel. He is survived by: his mother Shirley Bartel (Jones); his wife Debbie; his children, Stacey Olles (Jake) and Neil Bartel (Rachel); his grandchildren, Carly, Mia, Maggie and Jackson; his brother Paul Bartel; his siblings-in-law, Cheri Gray (Massih) and Roger Boehnke (Pat); and his close friend Kenny Dlugosz. He is also survived by nieces and cousins.
