It is with great sadness that we announce the death of William Bates (Akron, New York), born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, who passed away on February 5, 2020, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, James Bates and Agnes "Nancy" Bates (Galloway); and his brother Douglas Bates. He is survived by: his wife Mary Lou Bates (Brauen); his children, David Bates (Deborah) of Connecticut and April Cook (Jeff) of Maryland; his grandchildren, Ian, Luke Bates, Emily and Abigail Cook; and his sister Elizabeth Bates. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
