It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Selma LaVerne Herrington of Silver City, New Mexico, born in Lordsburg, New Mexico, who passed away on August 27, 2023, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Alta Tannehill Cloudt and James David Cloudt; her husband Ellis B. Herrington; her son Thomas Allan Herrington; and her brother Joseph David Cloudt.
She is survived by: her sister Shirley Margaret Cloudt; her daughter Karen Herrington; her son-in-law Danny Sheaffer of Georgetown; and her sister Shirley Cloudt Barrall of Fairfield, CA. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
With her own research and the NAN Ranch and Mimbres Foundation projects, LaVerne's contribution to Mimbres archaeology was far more substantial and significant than most have realized.
