He was predeceased by: his wife Celia Chavez; his son Juan; his daughter-in-law Liz Ortega; and his siblings, Carlos, Chris, Salomon, Jr., Freddy Ortega, Mary Apodaca and Mercedes Salas.
He is survived by: his children, Nino (Rita Ortega), Berto (Neva Ortega), Polo (Cindy Ortega), Orlando, Jr. (Melody Ortega) and Yolanda of Portales; and his son-in-law Humberto Sanchez of Portales. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
